Goalkeeper Mayah Soares recorded a shutout as the Baldwin High School girls soccer team concluded the regular season with a 4-0 win over Maui High on Saturday evening at War Memorial Stadium.
Kena Tihada and Maddison Akiona scored goals in the first half, and Aatiyana Racadio-Hoohanohano and Sienna Fernandez tacked on goals in the second half for the Bears, who improved to 8-4-0. As the Maui Interscholastic League Division I runner-up, Baldwin will next host a state tournament first-round match on Jan. 29.
The Sabers finish the season at 3-8-1.
On Saturday night at War Memorial, the Baldwin boys improved to 9-0-1 with a 6-1 win over Maui High (1-9-1). Goal scorers were not reported.
In Division II play, the Seabury Hall boys and girls teams — who both have already clinched their respective league titles — earned wins over Molokai on Saturday.
On Molokai, Esken Guarin scored three goals to lead the Seabury boys to an 8-0 win over the Farmers (0-5-1).
Owen McCarthy, Josey Romanchak, Issac Ferayorni, Sam Stafford and Austin Schlather also scored for the Spartans (7-0-0).
In Olinda, the Seabury girls finished off a 6-0-0 regular season with a 14-1 win over Molokai (0-6-0). Names of goal scorers were not reported.
The Spartans next head to Oahu for the D-II state tourney, Jan. 31-Feb. 3 at Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex.
